Sutton & Sons is run by husband and wife duo, Danny and Hana, and is a lot smarter than most chippies. The pair now own three fish and chip restaurants on Stoke Newington High St, Essex Road and their newest venture in Hackney Central. The fish comes from their very own fishmongers, so they know what’s what.
I arrived with my best mate at the Essex Road branch on a warm evening and was warmly greeted, shown to my seat and offered a drink. I started with a pint of Guinness. The handsome interior was a handmade and rustic wooden design, complemented by smells of fresh seafood. As well as a traditional fish and chips menu including the likes of monkfish, deep fried oysters (amazing), pints of prawns, snails and lobster. We both shared oysters and prawns to start followed by battered meaty monkfish.
Rarely do you visit a fish and chip shop and get quality fresh fish and perfectly crispy chips. But Sutton & Sons did a brilliant job and executing both of these. I will be back and recommend any visitor to head to one of the branches for some true quality British fish and chips.
